It's happened at least twice, around Yokohama and Montréal, so it must be a tradition now! Unfortunately, the usual organiser,
steverogerson, is unable to make it to Melbourne, but that won't stop the pub crawl happening on Wednesday September 1st.
The plan is to start off at Mountain Goat Brewery, which is open on Wednesdays from 5pm offering beer, pizza and brewery tours (the tour is at 6.30pm). The brewery is on the 48 and 75 trams, which leave from Flinders Street.
From there, the proposed route is Lambsgo Bar -> Mrs. Parma's -> Cookie (that's a Flash app, rather than a website) -> Penny Blue -> Beer DeLuxe. These bars all sell a selection of Australian microbrewery product, both bottled and draught, as well as other interesting beverages. The Lambsgo, while out of the way, sells cask-conditioned 3 Ravens beer.
The date of a second crawl, taking in the south of the city, is to be decided.
